There Goes

the suicide who still walks the street
& the man with two idiot sons, god smiles.

these are the ways of the dead: take the one
who is edging her way out of the photo.

the brain holds what we call the mind
(the patients stifle their laughter)

incurable, you are invisible.
tell us about your symptoms.

it began when bathing in brain lesions.
the girl in the photo turns away.

Evelyn Posamentier’s “There Goes” is a piece of brainiography. Other pieces of this series have appeared in DIAGRAM and in Born Magazine, in collaboration with British digital artists John and Edward Harrison of J+E Design. Another piece of brainiography is forthcoming in Can We Have Our Ball Back? Recent work can be found in this year’s issue of Drunken Boat.
